GREEN ROOFS & GREEN WALLS

Embellishing terrace roofs using horticultural methods all the while enhancing the insulation capacities of the complex is the objective of the range Sopranature® by SOPREMA.

Sopranature® systems are available in several versions to tailor the planting system to the needs, and contributes effectively to sustainable construction – it helps to save energy (thermal insulation), regulates temperature in the summer, improves landscape quality, promotes biodiversity, uses renewable products and plant species that need little water and fertiliser, limits the storm water run-off water into rainwater draining systems.

Sopranature® systems are the perfect way to create sustainable green roofing solutions, promoting biodiversity, and turning what would otherwise be wasted space into useful areas for both people and vehicles. Sopranature® offers also solutions for green walls.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

  • Reducing heat islands: Much research both in Canada and around the world has demonstrated the effectiveness of green roofs for reducing the urban heat island effect. Solar energy is absorbed by the green cover and the water in the growing medium evaporates into the atmosphere, refreshing the surrounding air.
  • Stormwater management: Green roofs help to better manage stormwater runoff by retaining precipitations in the growing medium, plants and capillary mat. With a high capacity for water retention, the green roof reduces the volume and runoff flow into stormwater sewer systems.
  • Air filtration: In addition to transforming CO2 into oxygen, the plant cover filters atmospheric pollutants in the form of particles deposited on foliage and growing medium. 10m² surface covered with grasses can eliminate 2kg of suspended particles from the air each year.
