CURNOIR®
CURNOIR® is an elastomeric bitumen-based waterproofing coating, containing mineral filler and volatile solvents.
Description
CURNOIR® is a versatile product that can be used as: a bituminous waterproofing coating on concrete, fibre cement and for the regeneration of existing waterproofing systems - in both cases, CURNOIR needs to be protected from UV radiation by a layer of CURAL®, either with slate chippings or gravel (under an ECRAN NTS 170). It can also be used as a waterproofing coating for foundations and concrete-block or concrete basement walls, or as a primer on concrete or concrete blocks before the application of COLPHENE® self-adhesive waterproofing membranes.
Implementation
CURNOIR® is a multi-use product, notable use include:
- Waterproof covering for concrete, corrugated fiber cement/steel roofing panels, and for the renewing of old waterproof protection (in both cases, CURNOIR must be protected from ultraviolet rays by a CURAL layer, either with slate chippings or with gravel (under NTS 170 geosynthetic).
- Waterproofing covering for concrete foundations. Product must be well mixed in order to obtain a proper homogenization of components. Ensure that the tools are clean.
1. Waterproofing coating on concrete:
- ensure that surface is clean and dry,
- apply a first layer of CURNOIR® (about 400 g/m²) with a brush or a squeegee,
- let product dry for 24 hours,
- apply a second layer of CURNOIR (approx. 400 g/m²). If the surface will be exposed to U.V. rays, cover it with slate chippings (2 kg/m²) or, after 24 hours, apply 2 layers of CURAL (2 x 200 g/m²) with a brush, a scrapper or a roller.
2. Renewing of all SBS and oxidized waterproofing bitumen surfaces:
- clean and dry surface properly, if possible with a blowtorch,
- deflate air pockets and clean out cracks,
- eventually apply a sealing coat (ELASTOCOL® 500), about 0,25 l/m²,
- fill the cracks in with a coat of CURNOIR with a spatula,
- let product dry for 24 hours,
- spread a coat of CURNOIR with a brush or scraper (about 0,25 l/m²) with slate chippings (2,0 kg/m²) or, after 24 hours, apply 2 layers of CURAL® (2 x 200 g/m²) with a brush, a scrapper or a roller.
3. Renewing of corrugated fiber cement/steel roofing panels:
- apply a layer of CURNOIR® (about 400 g/m²) with a brush,
- let product dry for 24 hours,
- apply 2 layers of CURAL® (2 x 200 g/m²) to protect surface from U.V. rays and embellish it.
Tool cleaning: cleaning solvents (i.e. White Spirit, Xylene)
